How do religions of all stripes share one sacred space in a Montana ski town? Outlaw Beat host Joe Borden sits down in the Big Sky Chapel with Pastor Miriam Schmidt of All Saints in Big Sky, a shared Lutheran-Episcopal parish, and Rabbi Sonja Keren Pilz of Congregation Beth Shalom in Bozeman.
They cover the history of Big Sky Chapel and why it has no permanent cross, the weekly “set change” between various worship services, and what it takes to lead Jewish worship outside a synagogue (including what a Torah scroll costs). Then it gets real: why Jesus isn’t part of Judaism, the biggest Christian misconception about the “Old Testament” God, whether Christians should try to convert Jews, and why a rabbi says she never feels fully safe at synagogue.
Plus Joe’s game “Is It Problematic?”, covering AI Jesus apps, AI-written sermons, Ten Commandments in public schools, “Judeo-Christian values,” megachurch private jets, Jewish jokes and God as “she.”
Interfaith dialogue, Christianity and Judaism, religion in Montana, Big Sky and Bozeman community: smart, funny and surprisingly candid.
