Fairy Lake Road improvements to begin April 20

In the coming weeks, the public can expect road closures along Fairy Lake Road as the forest service begins phased construction as soon as April 20.

The seasonal closure of the road is currently in place through the end of June. However, forest users can expect disruptions along Fairy Lake Road during the summer season, according to an email from Emma Spurlock, the public engagement officer of the Custer Gallatin National Forest.

“After many years of planning, we are pleased to begin work on important maintenance needs,” Spurlock stated in an email. “Fairy Lake is one of the most popular recreation areas on the Custer Gallatin National Forest, and the opportunity for these improvements is a priority.”

To ensure public and contractor safety, alternative routes will be available. Currently, the alternative route to access Fairy Lake is via Fairy Creek Trail #500 from Battle Ridge Trailhead but users should be advised that this route is longer and can be challenging.
