At the Big Sky Farmers Market on Wednesday, Aug. 13, public safety agencies will host a safety fair for families from 5 to 8 p.m. near The Wilson Hotel.
The event will focus on teaching a variety of safety skills, highlighted by a “bike rodeo” with safety tips for traffic navigation, helmet fittings, brake checks and an obstacle course. The fair will be hosted by the Big Sky Fire Department, Madison County Public Health Department, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and Second Season Co.
“This event is a powerful example of collaboration among our public safety partners, bringing the community together to connect, engage, and share meaningful moments with local kids and families,” Gallatin County Sheriff Dan Springer stated in a press release.
Attendees can meet local sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, U.S. Forest Service representatives and even Smokey Bear. The event will also include discussion and distribution of Big Sky’s Wildfire Action Guide, demonstrations of car seat installation, and fire engine tours.
“We are excited for the Safety Fair collaboration and this first activation of the summer,” stated Erik Morrison, CEO of Second Season. “The Second Season platform is designed to offer users a free series of inclusive experiential learning in safe/fun environments to raise awareness and develop an embodied practice of mountain life skills. This is a great way to pass on some of these skills early on to the next generation of Big Sky.”
