The Gallatin Canyon Women’s Club will host Brock Tessman, president of Montana State University, for a public community talk on April 16 in Big Sky, as part of celebrations leading up to the club’s 100th anniversary.
The free event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center and is open to everyone in the community.
Founded in 1927, the club is approaching its centennial in 2027. Club leaders say the talk marks the beginning of a series of events planned throughout 2026 to build excitement ahead of the milestone celebration.
“This is really the women’s club inviting the entire community to the event,” said club president Amy Wisniewski. “It’s a kickoff as we start preparing for our 100-year celebration in 2027.”

During the event, Tessman will speak about his vision for the future of Montana State University and higher education in Montana. He is MSU’s 13th president and began his role in 2025.
The evening will also highlight the club’s long tradition of community scholarships. For the past 50 years, the organization has awarded a scholarship to a graduating senior from Lone Peak High School.
As part of its centennial celebration, the club plans to introduce a new “Centennial Scholarship” for a woman in the Gallatin Canyon community who wants to return to school or pursue additional training. The funding could support a college degree, certificate program or other educational opportunity.
The club, which raises funds primarily for local nonprofits and scholarships, is organizing the event with support from the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce and WMPAC staff.
More information about the event and other upcoming activities can be found on the Gallatin Canyon Women’s Club website.
