On Monday, May 19, the Gallatin Mental Health Local Advisory Council will host an education event for hospitality workers across the county. The second annual Salons and Saloons will educate community members in the hospitality industry including servers, bartenders, hairstylists and baristas, about how to connect clients with mental health resources when they show signs of distress.
The event will be held at the Gallatin Labor Temple at 422 E. Mendenhall St. at 4 p.m. and is free for attendees. Staff from the Gallatin Mobile Crisis Unit Team and the Bozeman Help Center will present at the event, which “aims to empower frontline workers with tools, knowledge and connections to support patrons who may be experiencing mental health challenges,” according to a description of the event.
Local mental health organizations will also be present to chat with attendees and appetizers and beverages will be served.
“Whether you work behind a bar or a salon chair, this event is an opportunity to learn how to respond with confidence and compassion when someone needs help,” the description stated.
