On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Bozeman Public Library will host two public health enthusiasts to discuss research on the future of rural health in their communities.
The event is virtual, and will feature Margaret Mullins, an employee at the Montana State Department of Public Health & Human Services, and Trina Filan, a veteran in the public health field.
Most recently, Mullins has served as the Montana Social Determinants of Health Program manager with the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Bureau. Her work has challenged her to address social determinants of health as well as equity within the government bureau, connecting with community initiatives and outside organizations to build a network of resources. Her current work focuses on reducing disparities and improving access in Montana’s large towns, rural communities and tribal communities.
Filan is working with the Montana DPHHS and CDPHPB in the Diabetes and Cardiovascular Health Programs, which allocate money to projects around the state to improve diabetes and stroke prevention, care and outcomes.
