After finishing its inaugural season 3–5 overall (2–3 in Western 6-Man Conference), the Lone Peak Big Horns are headed to the playoffs.

The team will play No. 1 ranked Denton High School in Denton, Mont., 244 miles north, this Saturday.

Lone Peak lost its last game of the season to conference rival Lima, which finished 3–2, third in conference. Lima is scheduled to play No. 9 ranked Fromberg-Roberts (7–1 overall).

Lone Peak lost juniors Tommy Tosic to a fractured wrist and Tucker Shea to an ankle sprain during the Lima game. Head coach Tony Beardsley said Monday Shea may be back for the playoff game.

Beardsley said this finish to the season may prove to be a catalyst in the team’s promising future.

“This is a great opportunity for our football players to take the next step in becoming the program we envision for the future,” he said. “Playoff experience will only help our team learn more about six-man football and what it takes to be successful.”
