After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2024 due to a tiebreaker, Lone Peak High School football returns to the eight-player state tournament in 2025, holding the No. 4 seed from the south division.
With a 76-28 win over Lame Deer High School on Oct. 26, the Big Horns finished their season with a 5-3 and clinched a playoff spot. They will travel to face the No. 1 seed from the west division, Seeley-Swan High School, on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
Head coach Dustin Shipman noted in an email that the entire team got to play substantial minutes against Lame Deer, and he thanked the Lame Deer community for being “very welcoming” of the Big Horns.
“Really a great trip to end the regular season and get ready for the post-season,” Shipman wrote.
The Big Horns also made the playoffs in 2022 and again in 2023, but fell in the first round to Culbertson High School and Fort Benton High School, respectively. They will look to take their recent playoff history one step further against Seeley-Swan.
