Lynn Hill Slide Show in Bozeman

World-renowned climber
Lynn Hill will be giving a
slideshow this Wednesday, March 30, at the
Emerson Theater in Bozeman.
Famous for making the
first free ascent of the 3000’
Nose (VI 5.14 a/b) on Yosemite’s
El Capitan, Hill also has
tales from the sport climbing
competition circuit in the ‘80s
in Europe (read: neon spandex),
and from climbing in places like
Madagascar and Australia.
The energetic Bozeman local
Whit Magro will open for Hill,
giving a presentation on a new
route he climbed this winter in
Patagonia. Magro, Nate Opp and
Josh Wharton spent five days in
January climbing the Wave Affect,
“a mega link up traverse” of
three of the major peaks on the
Patagonian skyline: Desmochada,
Silla and Fitzroy.
The evening will support the Bozeman
Boulder Initiative, which
is working on the fifth in-town
artificial climbing boulder. There
will also be tons of silent auction
items with good deals from major
gear companies. Stronghold Fabrication
will build the structure
this summer at Rose Park, near REI in
Bozeman.
