With the holiday season and celebrations underway, law enforcement agencies across Montana have increased their presence in communities across the state in order to help keep travelers safe, with an emphasis on preventing impaired driving.
According to a Dec. 23 press release from the City of Bozeman, crash data from 2023 revealed that 34% of fatal crashes involve an alcohol-impaired driver. Patrol support will come from the Montana Department of Transportation through overtime funding provided statewide. Increased patrols will continue through New Year’s Day.
“Please plan ahead, and don’t drive if you’re impaired,” said Hal Richardson with the Bozeman Police Department in the release. “We will be increasing our presence on Bozeman’s roadways to help keep everyone safe.”
