LONE MOUNTAIN LAND COMPANY
BIG SKY – Moonlight Basin on Dec. 15 announced major renovations at the Moonlight Lodge, including the addition of the new Moonlight Tavern.
Moonlight Tavern offers inventive, mountain-inspired tavern fare in a beautiful lodge setting. Featuring a full dining room and separate bar and lounge areas, guests may enjoy an expedited or relaxed lunch or après-ski bites and a full dinner menu, while enjoying the view of iconic Lone Mountain.
While some areas of Moonlight Lodge, such as the treatment rooms and member lounge, pool, and fitness area, are reserved for member-only use, most of the lodge is open to the public. Public areas of Moonlight Lodge include the new Moonlight Tavern, the retail shop and the real estate gallery.
“We chose a palette that would bring indoors the magnificent mountain sunrises and sunsets,” said Kim Anderson, interior designer of Moonlight Lodge. “The overall feel of the interiors is relaxed and casual, inviting visitors to linger for drinks or a bite to eat after a long day on the slopes.”
While things have evolved at Moonlight Basin, the mission remains the same: to nurture a multi-generational, sustainable, and authentic community, centered around outdoor activities of continual discovery and adventure.
Valet parking is available to the public for a fee during the ski day at Moonlight Lodge. During lunch or dinner, parking at the lodge is complimentary to all guests – making the Tavern an ideal spot for visitors and locals. Members also enjoy numerous other perks, including a new member lounge and family-activity center, with a private bar, casual dining, kids programming, and games.
Moonlight Basin is being developed by Lone Mountain Land Company, LLC. Visit moonlightbasin.com/join to learn more about becoming a Moonlight Club member. We all are familiar with using a limited palette, but do you use one? Do you know how to use a limited palette to create different color combinations? Are you tired of carrying around 15-20 different tubes when you paint plein air? Have you ever wanted to create a certain “mood” in a painting but failed? Do you create a lot of mud? Do you struggle to achieve color harmony? All these problems are addressed in John’s workbook in clear and concise language!
Based on the bestselling “Limited Palatte, Unlimited Color” workbook written by John Pototschnik, the workshop is run by Maggie Shane and Annie McCoy, accomplished landscape (acrylic) and plein air (oil) artists, exhibitors at the Big Sky Artists’ Studio & Gallery and members of the Big Sky Artists Collective.
Each student will receive a copy of “Limited Palette, Unlimited Color” to keep and take home to continue your limited palette journey. We will show you how to use the color wheel and mix your own clean mixtures to successfully create a mood for your paintings.
Each day, we will create a different limited palette color chart and paint a version of a simple landscape using John’s directives. You will then be able to go home and paint more schemes using the book for guidance.
Workshop is open to painters (oil or acrylic) of any level although students must have some basic knowledge of the medium he or she uses. Students will be provided the book ($92 value), color wheel, value scale and canvas papers to complete the daily exercises.

Noon until 6PM.
