A new winter event is coming to Big Sky in late February, combining high-octane motorsport and traditional Austrian ice racing on Moonlight Basin’s golf course.
The F.A.T. International Ice Race made its North American debut in February 2024 in Aspen, Colorado. It’s “an exclusive winter motorsport festival” organized by Ferdi Porsche, featuring historic and modern cars on a frozen course, according to an email from Lone Mountain Land Company. Spectacles include four- and two-wheel-drive competitions and live DJ entertainment.
The event will take place Feb. 27-28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available online, with early bird pricing available through the month of October.
“Hosting a high-end Porsche race in a resort town highlights a sense of excitement, attracting affluent visitors, boosting local businesses, and elevating the town’s reputation as a unique destination,” Sam Byrne, co-founder and managing partner of LMLC parent company CrossHarbor Capital Partners, stated in an email to EBS. “Events usually only seen in urban areas become even more special and memorable when brought to a small community like Big Sky.”
The event has never been hosted in Big Sky before, and organizers look forward to welcoming the public to the ticketed event at Moonlight Basin.
