Ruby Bright Delzer, 96, of Big Sky, Montana, formerly of Burnsville, Minnesota, died peacefully on Feb. 27, 2024. She was preceded in death by husband Ralph Delzer; parents Harry and Vivian Bright; brothers Harry, Ralph and Charles; sisters Fern and Barb. Ruby is survived by sons, Steven (Donita), Daniel (Suzanne), James (Gertie), Peter (Kelli) and John (Toni); daughter Mary (Gary Jirele) Delzer; grandchildren Rebecca (Andrew) Peterson, Benjamin (Lisa) Delzer, Sarah (Jeff) Glockner, Sam (Abby) Brummund-Delzer and great grandchildren Finn, Chloe, Jett, Mackenzie, Lydia, Hawk, Lucy, Curtis, Luke, Jacob,and Levi.
Ruby was born in Minneapolis to Harry and Vivian Bright on June 30, 1927. She grew up in Edina, Minnesota, and graduated from Minneapolis Central High School in 1945. Ruby and Ralph Delzer met at work and were married on Aug. 4, 1948. Ruby worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, teacher and homemaker. One of Ruby’s greatest accomplishments was going to Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota and earning a degree in Teacher Education, while still raising a family.
Ruby was an active participant in her church, Ascension Lutheran in Burnsville, and All Saints in Big Sky. Ruby and Ralph were instrumental in the construction of the chapel in Big Sky. Ruby enjoyed singing in the church choir and loved teaching children in Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends.
Many people were touched by Ruby’s love and faith, and she will be remembered with deep love by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are preferred to All Saints Church 510 Little Coyote Rd. in Big Sky. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at dahlcares.com.
