While the calendar may mark the summer solstice this Friday, June 20, parts of Montana may see up to 12 inches of snow as a cold front passes through over the weekend.
A winter storm watch has been issued Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning in Glacier National Park, according to meteorologist Mark Heyka with ABC’s NonStop Local. Up to a foot is expected above 6,000 feet, including Logan Pass, with up to four inches down to 4,000 feet.
Closer to home, Big Sky’s forecast is more damp, with rain expected Saturday through Sunday with a low of 31F expected, and highs in the low- to mid-50s during the day. These temperatures could make snow likely, according to the National Weather Service, and travelers should plan accordingly in case road conditions deteriorate.
By Monday, June 23, summer weather will return.
