Big Sky local Shawn Robertson will teach introductory class on the deeper aspects of the human ability to observe, contemplate and make choices based on a complex interpretation of energetic influences, on Wednesday, March 26, at Santosha Wellness Center from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
“Our five physical senses through which we perceive our experiences are tuned by evolution to pick up stimuli from the outside and then bring it inside for interpretation,” Robertson explains in the class description. “But what about the world within us? Why do so many of us interpret the world in so many different ways? Is there something happening internally that affects how accurately we ‘see’ things externally?”
To answer to these questions, Robertson will teach about a group of wise men and women in India who thousands of years ago explored themselves and their experiences. He will introduce some of the techniques they used to fine-tune their abilities to interpret the world around us by bringing awareness to what’s happening inside us, and how to apply what they learned to our own modern lives.
“This class will focus on introducing fundamental subtle anatomy components to heighten your understanding of how energy moves in the body,” Robertson contintued. “We will be playing with several ancient techniques such as pranayama (breath control and expansion), some gentle yoga postures, and simple meditation to experience first hand how your body really works, from within.”
