The Skateboarding Alliance of Montana, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to building a community around skateboarding, announced the return of its Winter Skate Nights indoor skateboarding series in Bozeman. The series starts Feb. 19 and welcomes all ages and skill levels. The indoor space provides access to skill-specific zones with rotating obstacles, beginner skate clinics, community-led build-an-obstacle nights, art stations celebrating creative expression, best trick contests and a Game of SKATE tournament, according to their website.
The Skateboarding Alliance of Montana was founded in 2000 and has contributed to the development of local public skate spaces, such as Kirk Park and Belgrade Skatepark, and are working to replace the Big Sky Youth Empowerment skate park, which was demolished in July. Under its current statewide focus, the organization runs youth clinics, community events and advocacy efforts to strengthen Montana’s skateboarding ecosystem.
“Not only is this going to be an exciting and spectacular event, but it’s going to be a safe event,” Skateboarding Alliance and Montana’s representatives, introduced as Ryan and Andy, stated in a YouTube video about the event.
“I would encourage parents to come and hang out with their kids and watch the skateboard, but if there is a need to drop them off, know that this is a safe space, we’re going to be fully staffed with a bunch of volunteers,” they continued. Those interested in volunteering, donating or staying updated on their events can visit the Skate Alliance’s website or social media accounts.
