On Wednesday, June 3, public safety partners will host an event for Big Sky kids of all ages, focusing on bicycle safety in time for the summer season.
The third annual Bike Rodeo is hosted by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Big Sky Fire Department and Madison County Public Health Department. The event is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m., right before the annual debut of the Big Sky Farmers Market.
Through an obstacle course at the event, kids can test basic skills like looking both ways before crossing a street, stopping and going, and avoiding obstacles. Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies will interact with families, and kids will have the chance to tour emergency vehicles and explore BSFD safety equipment. Kids will receive important bike safety equipment and other surprise giveaways.
“This will be the third Bike Rodeo that GCSO, MCHD, and BSFD have held in Big Sky since 2024,” Chris Vigness, BSFD division chief of community risk reduction, stated in an email to EBS. “These are great opportunities to interact with the community and provide basic bike safety education.”
