U.S. Highway 287 is closed between miles 3.2 and seven just outside of West Yellowstone due to a rock slide, according to a road conditions update from Montana Department of Transportation. The closure began June 29 at 11 p.m. and remains in effect as of June 30. Those looking to travel west of West Yellowstone will need to take an alternate reroute until the roadway is clear.
Custer Gallatin National Forest posted that the Earthquake Lake Visitor’s Center will remain closed through this closure. For details about the road closure or updates, contact the Montana Department of Transportation at 800‑226‑7623 or visit mdt.mt.gov/.
