EBS STAFF
Yellowstone National Park’s East, South and West entrances will close to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1 as part of the park’s yearly effort to prepare for the winter season.
Saturday, Oct. 31 will be the final day most of the park is open to vehicles. Afterward, visitors must enter the park through the North Entrance in Gardiner or the Northeast Entrance in Cooke City. Anyone interested in taking the route, which features Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley, should monitor changing weather, expect limited services, anticipate road closures and check ahead of time for any travel restrictions. The park advises visitors to bring cold weather essentials and keeping gas tanks full.
The snowcoach and snowmobile season will open on Dec. 15.
Visitors can check road conditions online, sign up for text alerts by texting “82190” to 888-777 or call 307-344-2117.
