MONTANA – Celebrate Father’s Day this year with free fishing on June 16 and 17.
As a tribute to fathers, the Montana Legislature passed a bill in 2011 that allows free fishing for everyone on Father’s Day weekend.
Because this is the only time fishing is free in Montana, families are encouraged to get outside and participate in this unique event. Without having to worry about the cost of a license, families can try out fishing to see if they have further interest in the sport.
Anyone planning recreation around water is encouraged to check out Fish, Wildlife and Parks most recent conditions updates, as well as fishing and boating regulations at fwp.mt.gov.
