HELENA – The Montana Stockgrowers Association is seeking nominations of Montana ranches for the Montana Environmental Stewardship Award. This award recognizes Montana ranchers at the forefront in conservation and stewardship and are willing to serve as examples for other ranchers.
Rather than having ranches apply for the award this year, the association is encouraging local communities to help select a ranch that “really goes above and beyond when it comes to environmental stewardship,” said Ariel Overstreet, the stockgrowers association’s communications director.
Nominations are due to the MSGA office May 28, and ranches may be nominated by anyone, including themselves. Montana Stockgrowers Association staff will work with the winner to prepare their application for the Regional and National Award competition. Since 1992, MSGA has honored 19 state winners, eight of whom went on to win the regional award and two named national award winners.
The Montana Stockgrowers Association is a nonprofit organization with nearly 2,500 members that works to serve, protect and advance the interests of cattle producers. To learn more, visit mtbeef.org/esap.aspx or call Ariel Overstreet at (406) 442-3420.
