The National Park Service and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service moved 116 Yellowstone National Park bison to the Fort Peck Indian Reservation according to a release from the park service. The effort is part of the Bison Conservation Transfer Program, which relocates Yellowstone bison to American Indian Tribes in order to manage the population in and around the park.

The reservation, located in Poplar, Montana, received 108 males, four females and four calves. The total number of bison transferred to Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes at Fort Peck is 414.
