Editor’s note: Big Sky’s seasonal workforce and the Community Support Group are featured in “Stay for the Season,” a new EBS documentary about seasonal workers in Big Sky.

Scores of seasonal workers have already arrived in Big Sky for the summer season, and on Tuesday night, over 100 congregated in Fire Pit Park for a seasonal worker welcome party hosted by the Community Support Group.

“For the first event of the season, we felt it was a big success,” Laura Seyfang, coordinator of the Community Support Group, told EBS in an email. “It was great to have so many workers new to town want to meet each other and have some fun.”

The new workers, who came from as far away as Malaysia, Taiwan, Bulgaria and the Philippines, played lawn games, ate food provided by Rainbow Ranch Lodge, and mingled during the party. The CSG has many more events planned this summer, including in-home dinners with locals, discounted Yellowstone National Park tours, and bowling at the Montage.

“The CSG group is looking forward to sharing many great Big Sky experiences with all these workers who come from so many different places,” Seyfang said.

The CSG is a local, volunteer-run organization that coordinates events and opportunities for Big Sky’s seasonal workforce to welcome them to their temporary home. Michelle Nierling from the Yellowstone Club and Deb Brown, Mel Crichton, Rita McGaughy and Peter Christian from the Big Sky Rotary Club all helped host the event. Anyone interested in volunteering with the CSG can do so through Volunteer Big Sky.
