A pedestrian was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle near Gallatin Regional Park, according to the Bozeman Police Department. The deceased pedestrian was identified as 39-year-old Leslie Brown of Bozeman by the Gallatin County Coroner on Feb. 27.
Around 7:41 a.m. on Feb. 26, officers responded to West Oak Street for a reported vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. Several witnesses were present, and life saving measures for the pedestrian were enacted on-site. The pedestrian was taken to Bozeman Health Deaconess Regional Medical Center for treatment but later died from their injuries, according to a press release from the city of Bozeman.
A preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle traveling west on Oak Street failed to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk and struck them. The driver and witnesses are cooperating with the investigation. The victim’s name will be released by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner.
“The Bozeman Police Department extends their deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragic loss of life,” stated Bozeman Police Chief Jim Veltkamp in the release. “Thank you to the Bozeman Fire Department, Montana Highway Patrol, American Medical Response and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during this event.”
