“With the recent warm temperatures, we’ve made the difficult decision to wrap up the season a bit earlier than planned,” the nonprofit ski area posted on its website, supplemented by a social media video of General Manager Hiram Towle standing in a puddle. “We are so grateful for everyone who made it so special!”

With record high temperatures in the region, and no precipitation in the short-term forecast, many western ski areas have made the same difficult decision—California’s Sierra-at-Tahoe announced Thursday that its season will end March 22, as did Utah’s Snowbasin Resort.

“It’s never easy to make the call on a closing date, but in this industry, we work with the hand Mother Nature deals us, reflect on the memories made, and keep the stoke alive for the season to come,” wrote Snowbasin General Manager Davy Ratchford, in the release announcing the closure.

Bridger Bowl’s Dirtbag Ball, a fundraiser for the Bridger Bowl Ski Patrol, will still take place March 28 at the Molly Brown, featuring a raffle and live music from 710 Ashbury and Zach Nytomt Band.
