Christmas Giving Tree a community success

BIG SKY – The Rotary Club of Big Sky took over the Christmas Giving Tree five years ago after the Big Sky Mom’s Club, which started the project, dissolved.

It enjoyed yet another year of success in 2013 and Rotary Club President Dale Palmer sees it as a community-wide triumph.

“The Big Sky community means everything to the program,” said Palmer, who shares the club presidency with Dr. Jeff Strickler. “All the Rotary Club does is facilitate the tree. The community goes way above and beyond. They do all the work.”

The Giving Tree is set up to help those in need during the holiday season and is completely anonymous, Palmer said.

“Most of the time it’s for kids 15 and under. We did over a dozen children this year, [but] I think if you help even one child, it’s a success.” – J.T.O.
