Cinnamon Fest brings jazz, funk for fourth annual event

GALLATIN CANYON – Hark, music lovers! Live jazz, funk and rock bands will play at the fourth annual Cinnamon Fest on July 20. Rain or shine, the event opens at 4 p.m., with music to start at 7 p.m.

The spirited New York City-based, soul-jazz band Diallo House will headline the fest this year, echoing its “slow burning” sound up the Gallatin Canyon.

Another group, Sim – Bitty, will play its own mixture of rock, jazz and funk. The musicians hail from a couple other bands that have played in the area for years, said organizer Morgan Ayres, who owns the Cinnamon.

A couple hundred people attended the event last year, and Ayres says there is room for many more on the 3.5-acre property.

Camping will be included in the cost of admission, and the Cinnamon will sell food and drinks outside on the lawn, as well as keep the bar open until 2 p.m. for late night jams.
