Creativity, generosity flows from area business community

BOZEMAN– Hundreds of local businesses, organizations and individuals are finding creative and thrilling ways to support kids via the Gallatin Valley YMCA at the 2nd Annual YMCA Snowball March 3 at the Gallatin Gateway Inn. By offering expertise, services, meals, adventure packages, special guest appearances and one-of-a-kind experiences, these business are helping to fundraise for the event.

“The partnership between student-athletes and the children enrolled at the Y sets a strong example of the necessity of healthy, active living,” said MSU Athletic Director, Peter Fields. Which is why MSU Bobcat Athletics donated one of the most coveted and creative prizes to the YMCA Snowball – a lunch and recess play with Bobcat Quarterback, DeNarius McGhee along with tickets to several major sporting events.

“We all recognize the need to serve our families with high quality sports and activities at an affordable price. There needs to be a place where everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, can participate,” said Andrea Stevenson, YMCA’s executive director. In a recent partnership with Eagle Mount, the YMCA offers a 4-week swim program below the $125 actual cost for just $65. “That’s the YMCA mission in action,” Stevenson said.

Mayor Sean Becker is hosting a YMCA “Mayor for the Day” and the Belgrade and Bozeman Fire Departments are offering a Blazing Arrival at local schools, while Music Villa is giving a Gibson electric guitar and Simms kids fly fishing waders. Eyes on Main is offering exams for the entire family. Misty Radue is donating a half-day barrel-racing clinic to one lucky family and Montana Murray Kennels is offering five weeks of dog obedience. Whether your interest is pets, travel, art, local getaways, adventure packages, interior design services, cooking classes, photography, there is something for everyone including trips to San Diego, Sonoma, Silverwood, Virginia City and more.

Through sponsorships, subsidies and the help of our community, no one is ever turned away from the YMCA due to inability to pay. Last year, your Gallatin Valley YMCA invested over $45,000 into the community through direct financial assistance and program subsidies. All monies raised from the SnowBall go directly towards subsidizing youth programs, such as flag football, basketball, summer day camps, teen camps and our new aquatics programs.

No need to pay the baby-sitter or leave the kids at home for this evening of fun. Instead use this opportunity to help your child learn what it means to be part of a community that supports programs that build strong kids, strong families and a stronger community.

Tickets are available by calling the YMCA at 994-9622.
