A veteran alt-rock act with more than three decades on the road is making a stop in Big Sky this week.
The Freddy Jones Band will perform a free show Friday, March 13, at Tips Up with Bozeman musician Drew McDowell opening the night at 8 p.m.
Formed in 1990, the group built a following in the alternative rock scene with songs including “In a Daydream,” “Take the Time” and “One World.” Their latest album, “Never Change,” was produced by three-time Grammy winner Justin Niebank, who received a Grammy for his work on Taylor Swift’s “Red.” Niebank himself described “Never Change” as “the best record I’ve worked on in years.”
Founding member Marty Lloyd continues to lead the band’s creative direction and has missed only one show in the group’s 33-year history, according to a press release. Bassist Rich Ross, formerly of The Samples, remains a longtime collaborator.
Known for their energetic live shows, the band has shared stages with acts including Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Blues Traveler, and Dave Matthews Band. Admission to Friday’s performance is free.
