Gallatin County Search and Rescue recruiting volunteers

EBS STAFF

The Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue has opened a new volunteer recruitment phase for its Valley Team, inviting interested residents to apply. The team is seeking volunteers who are experienced in outdoor environments, reside in Gallatin County and have a background working in structured team settings.

GCSSR specializes in year-round backcountry search and rescue operations across Gallatin County. Volunteers work around the clock to locate, access, stabilize and transport individuals to safety, serving both residents and visitors. Becoming a full member requires a minimum one-year commitment. Recruits must complete an orientation program, attend monthly team training and respond to call-outs. Members typically dedicate 15 to 20 or more hours per month to search and rescue duties, according to the recruitment form.
