On Saturday, Feb. 21 in Bozeman, nonprofit Greater Impact will host its seventh annual Tropical Chili Cook-Off to raise money for its mission of supporting individuals struggling with addiction through Recovery Point, a new recovery resource facility.
The culinary competition welcomes local chefs—both professionals and home cooks—to compete for titles including “spiciest,” “professional” and “People’s Choice,” according to a Greater Impact press release. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at 2595 Simmental Way in Bozeman.
Any interested contestants are encouraged to sign up by emailing Greater Impact Development Director Staci Anderson at development@greaterimpact.us. Tickets for attendees will be available at the door.
Recovery Point opened in late November, filling a gap in local addiction recovery services following the closure of Cedar Creek Integrated Health in early December, which was then expected to leave nearly 1,000 people without needed care until Billings-based Rimrock Treatment Center opens a Bozeman facility.
“[Recovery Point] will provide individuals a safe space, where they can connect with peers, and access resources, trainings and support,” Anderson stated in a prior release. “An advisory committee, made up of individuals with lived experience, will ensure that the programs we develop reflect the real needs of our community… The need for a recovery resource center in Bozeman is huge and we are stepping up to make this happen quickly and smoothly.”
This year’s chili cook-off will support Bozeman’s fast-evolving recovery resource network.
