Gallatin Valley Land Trust’s 11th annual Summer Trails Challenge set a new record in June, with 1,436 participants logging 125,795 miles to unlock a full $100,000 match from 45 local sponsors, surpassing the organization’s 100,000-mile goal for the second straight year.

Throughout the month of June, participants logged trail miles online, with every mile unlocking a dollar from the sponsor pool. The Mountain Project topped the team standings with 6,083 miles earning them both the Golden Boot trophy for top foot miles, and the Silver Seat trophy, or top bike miles. Honorable mention teams include the Big Sky Wind Drinkers, Tori Pintar Photo & Creative, Bozeman Youth Cycling and Bozeman Health.

“This event provides a unique opportunity for people to support the local trail system,” said GVLT Development Project Manager Ellie Zignego. “It’s fun to see people of all ages and abilities enjoy friendly competition with their families and friends. And the best part is the entire community wins when everyone comes together to support connected trails and open space.”

Since 1990, GVLT has helped build the nearly 100-mile Main Street to the Mountains trail system and place land under conservation easements across Gallatin Valley.
