On Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 12:25 p.m. the Hyalite Fire District was dispatched to a wildland fire near Nash Road south of Bozeman. Crews arrived on scene and tackled an approximately one-acre fire burning in grass and mixed brush, working to protect neighboring structures including primary residences.
Hyalite Fire requested mutual aid from the Bozeman Fire Department, Fort Ellis Fire Service Area, Gallatin Gateway Fire District, Central Valley Fire District, Gallatin County Emergency Management, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and American Medical Response, including six brush wildland engines, five water tenders, two incident command vehicles, one structure fire engine, five sheriff deputies and one ambulance, according to an Aug. 27 press release.
The fire was contained to two acres and extinguished by 2 p.m. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. One landowner was treated for possible smoke inhalation and no structures were damaged, although several fences were damaged.
“The Hyalite Fire District thanks our mutual partners for helping with this incident,” Hyalite Fire District stated in the release. “As a reminder to the public please use caution during wildfire season and report any fire as early as possible.”
