BIG SKY – Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter and Moonlight Basin are calling all dog owners to bring their dogs and snowshoes to raise funds for homeless and abandoned animals during a tail-wagging, barking good time at the ninth annual Snowshoe Shuffle on Saturday, March 9.

During the event, dog owners get the chance to bring their best friends to Moonlight Basin after hours to snowshoe on a torch-lit, groomed trail followed by chili, a cash bar, a raffle and live music and by Joe Knapp at the Headwaters Grille at the Madison Village Base Area.

Registration and check-in begin at 5:30 p.m. and the snowshoe course opens at 6 p.m. The course will follow a groomed trail and takes about 45-60 minutes to complete.

“Moonlight Basin is proud to host this event and support an organization that gives back to lost and abandoned animals in our community,” said Ersin Ozer, Event Coordinator for Moonlight Basin. “Plus, it’s always fun to watch all the dogs claim the Madison Village Base Area as their stomping grounds for an evening. Dogs and snowshoeing just go hand in hand together.”

Events such as the Snowshoe Shuffle enable Heart of the Valley to not only raise significant dollars from the community, but also to educate the community about the shelter, increase adoptions and provide a good time for people who love their pets.

With its new shelter facility up and running, Heart of the Valley is now able to better serve the community with expanded humane education programs, a new summer day camp and community spay/neuter assistance.

In addition to their new offerings, Heart of the Valley also continues to provide adoption counseling, lost and found services, microchipping, a great volunteer program and loving care for all of our furry friends who are waiting to meet their owners.

“The Snowshoe Shuffle is the shelter’s chance to reach out to the people of Big Sky, gather with dogs and have a fun evening – and we hope to find homes for a few lucky shelter dogs who will also attend,” said Kathryn Hohmann, Development Director for Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter.

This event is made possible by many generous sponsors, including Moonlight Basin, Pretty Paws Mobile Grooming, Northern Lights Trading Company, and Dee-O-Gee.
