On Jan. 11, retired Montana State University professor, Dr. Sharon Eversman, will give a talk in the Bozeman Public Library Community Room about how trees and plants communicate with each other. The discussion, called “Trees Talk to Each Other??” will happen from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45.
The event is hosted by Gallatin Valley Earth Day and the public library and it will be free and open to the public.
Dr. Eversman will review the latest research that supports the hypothesis of plant and tree communication. For nearly 40 years, Dr. Eversman taught biology, general botany and plant anatomy at MSU’s department of ecology. Her research has focused on lichens, the light green organism that grows on tree bark and rocks.
Dr. Eversman often presents research on southwest Montana’s sites like the Beartooth Highway, giving in-depth presentations about the history and ecology of the land.
Outside of MSU, Dr. Eversman has worked in Montana’s national forests, as well as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
The talk will be in-person but there is an option to register online for a livestream.
