Strings Under the Big Sky

BIG SKY – Imagine beautiful music, fine food and drink, with the Gallatin River as the backdrop. That sums up the eighth annual Strings Under the Big Sky concert to be held Friday, July 13 at Rainbow Ranch.

A wine reception will start the event at 5:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature members of the internationally acclaimed Muir String Quartet and guests. Attire is casual.

In addition to traditional chamber music fare, including Beethoven’s Serenade in D Major, the concert will include lively pieces from the great Klezmer literature featuring a clarinet, a double bass and an accordion. For those who attended last year’s concert, think “Orange Blossom Special” on steroids.

Over the past four years, Strings Under the Big Sky has raised more than $60,000 to support arts programs in Big Sky’s public schools.

The concert is made possible by support from the Montana Chamber Music Society, which performs concerts throughout the state. Society founder Mike Reynolds, is a Bozeman native and is also a co-founder of the Grammy winning Muir String Quartet. Reynolds’ other project, the nonprofit Classics for Kids, has supported music education at Ophir School.

This event sold out last year. Call (406) 995-7951 to reserve tickets. stringsunderthebigsky.org
