Founded in 1976, Yellowstone Forever Institute is celebrating its 50th anniversary of connecting visitors to the world’s first national park.
The nonprofit serves as the official education partner of Yellowstone National Park, and provides immersive learning experiences led by naturalists, historians, cultural leaders and educators.
“Fifty years ago, Yellowstone Forever Institute was created to help people not just visit Yellowstone, but truly understand it,” Amanda Hagerty, chief program officer, stated in a press release. “As we celebrate this anniversary, we’re proud to continue offering experiences that inspire stewardship, spark curiosity and connect people more deeply to this extraordinary place… When you explore Yellowstone with someone who understands its wildlife, history and stories, the experience becomes personal. You leave not just with photos, but with a connection that lasts a lifetime.”
Yellowstone Forever has welcomed tens of thousands of learners in the past five decades, and works closely with the National Park Service to offer programs relevant to the current moment in Yellowstone National Park history, including wildlife, geology and cultural history.
The release noted that this summer, Yellowstone Forever will expand its lineup of Lodging and Learning programs, such as spring wolf and bear discovery, trails through Yellowstone, and fall wolf and elk discovery.
“These multi-day programs provide an ideal way to experience Yellowstone with ease, depth, and purpose and are perfect for visitors looking for an elevated national park journey,” the release stated. Programs aim to serve a wide range of ages, interests and activity levels of visitors looking to experience the park on a deeper level.
