Top NYC improv group to offer classes in Big Sky Jan 9-10

BIG SKY – With no costumes or scripts, there’s something playful and accessible about improvisational theater. It’s simply fun, which explains why improv classes can sell out even faster than the shows performed by improv troupes like the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Recognizing the demand for doing comedy as well as watching it, WMPAC Artistic Director John Zirkle doubled down when he decided to bring New York’s finest comedy group to Big Sky this season. He booked Upright Citizens Brigade for two nights, Jan. 9 and 10. In between these two evening performances – on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 10 – the touring company will also offer two classes open ages 14 and older.

The first class will be held on the WMPAC stage and will be limited to 18 students to provide maximum instruction. This class, called “Discover Your Inner Funniness,” will offer on-stage instruction and practice with the comedy artists, and will be held from 2:30-4 p.m.

Upright Citizens is also holding a second class called “Funny Talk,” from 5-6 p.m. This lecture/demonstration will allow some audience participation, and will provide attendees with insights and information on the techniques of improv immediately before they see the show.

Visit warrenmillerpac.org to reserve your spot. WMPAC is able to bring on nationally acclaimed performances like the Upright Citizens Brigade for affordable prices with the support of American Bank.
