Experimental plane crash kills 1 near DuBois

DUBOIS, Wyo. (AP) – A 44-year-old Dubois man is dead after the experimental aircraft he was flying crashed shortly after takeoff over the weekend.

Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee says the name of the victim has not been released.

The crash occurred shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday after the craft had taken off from the Dubois airport. The plane went down on land owned by the town.

Lee says the victim had assembled the single-engine plane from a kit.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were contacted to look into the cause of the crash.
