CrossHarbor Partners LLC, principal owner of the Yellowstone Club, and Boyne Resorts, Big Sky’s parent company, finalized their purchase to acquire the assets of Moonlight Basin from a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. on Oct. 1.

No press release on the closing was sent out to the media, but the news was posted at bigskyresort.com/media-and-press/press-releases on Oct. 8, and Big Sky Resort sent out a release on new season pass prices for both resorts this morning, Oct. 9.

The agreement follows the recent acquisition of the assets of the Club at Spanish Peaks by the same partnership.

“Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin are now one resort, Big Sky Resort, and to celebrate, has reopened early season, season pass pricing,” announced Big Sky Resort Public Relations Manager Sheila Chapman in the Oct. 9 press release. “A significant savings up to $688 over last year’s Biggest Skiing in America interconnect price. Big Sky Resort is now the largest ski resort in the United States with 5,750 acres of continuous skiing, 4,350 vertical drop and over 30 lifts.”

Both Big Sky and Moonlight Basin held early season pass sales prior to the merger, and those products will be honored as-is this year, Chapman said. Pass holders will also now be able to upgrade to an all-mountain pass. Big Sky Resort season pass holders will also have access to ski lifts at the Club at Spanish Peaks, which Boyne/CrossHarbor purchased from Lehman in August.

With a reduced price on the 2013-2014 BSIA pass, the resort will give guests that purchased passes for both Big Sky and Moonlight Basin gift card credit refund in the amount of the difference.

There will be only one day lift ticket option this year, and it will provide access to the entire mountain for $99 per day, $4 less than last year’s BSIA interconnect price.

Big Sky Resort will open the terrain around its Mountain Village, weather permitting, on Nov. 28, 2013. It plans to open the Madison and Moonlight acreage on Dec. 7.

“Bringing together these exceptional organizations and creating a seamless and massive ski experience for our guests is a once in a lifetime opportunity for everyone; visitors, employees, community members, and owners,” said Big Sky Resort General Manager Taylor Middleton in the press release. “What a fantastic way to begin our 40th anniversary year.”

The resort maintains that, “unifying these operations will promote economic stability and growth across the region, ensure sustainable success, and solidify the Big Sky brand as a premier ski destination and global brand.”
