On Friday, April 19, Gallatin County voters will receive ballots for school and special districts, including Bozeman Elementary and High School District trustee races. According to a release from Gallatin County, the Bozeman High School District trustee race was erroneously included on Bozeman Elementary School District ballots. The race is actually uncontested.

Sandra Wilson is the only filed candidate and is running unopposed for the high school trustee position, the release stated. Also, those within the Bozeman Elementary District do not vote on high school trustee positions, as the role oversees rural high schools. On the Bozeman Elementary District ballot, voters will see her name and a write-in line.

Wilson will be elected regardless.

“Over 35,000 ballots had already been printed and prepped for mailing by the time the error was discovered. Therefore, both Gallatin County Elections and the Bozeman School District decided to move forward with the error on the ballot because it was too late to reprint them and ensure that voters receive their ballots in a timely manner,” the release stated.

Gallatin County emphasized that the error will not impact the outcome of the election.

“We apologize for any confusion for the voters in the Bozeman School District,” the release stated. The release reminded voters that the upcoming May 7 election is a mail-ballot election, and those voting should return their ballots by 8 p.m. on May 7.
