One man died and two were injured in a head-on crash involving a Dodge Neon and Ford F-150 pickup Sunday on Highway 191 near the Moose Creek Campground in the Gallatin Canyon.

Two others were transported by emergency responders to Bozeman Deaconess hospital with “moderate” injuries, according to Big Sky Fire Chief Bill Farhat.

“Big Sky Fire was dispatched to Highway 191 in the area of Moose Creek Campground for a motor vehicle accident…upon our arrival, [we] found that there were three patients, two moderately injured and one critically injured.”

Farhat couldn’t give details on the incident, but said the crew was assisted by Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department and Gallatin Gateway Fire Department.

The crash closed the canyon from 2:45 p.m. until 7:10 p.m. to all traffic. Officials did not say if alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
