After a fundraising campaign that drew more than 800 donors, Gallatin Valley Land Trust, City of Bozeman and Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association announced that the Bikefill Community Bike Park project has moved into the design phase. The 66-acre park will sit next to Snowfill Recreation Area on city land, creating a combined Snowfill/Bikefill complex of over 100 acres of trails and park space for bike riders of all ages and abilities.
Project partners have selected a locally based design-build team, Integrated Trail Lab of Bozeman and Whitefish-based Terraflow, supported by regional planning, architecture and engineering firms. The community is being asked to help shape the final plan through an online visioning survey as well as a series of public workshops, with the first set for Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at city hall.
“Bikefill has been a long-held dream, and now, with your input, we can realize the community’s vision for a world-class bike park right here in Bozeman,” said GVLT Executive Director Chet Work.
Organizers expect to break ground this summer, with some rideable features opening in the fall, as the public-private partnership advances toward construction.
