In June, Yellowstone National Park reported data showing 2025 was on near-record pace for total annual visits. With the release of July data, the 2025 pace approached within 0.1% of the 2021 annual visitation record, when more than 4.8 million visited Yellowstone.
New August 2025 data reflects the second-busiest August in the park’s history, 4% behind 2021 but 2% ahead of 2024.
So far in 2025, the park has hosted 3,547,967 visitors, 1% fewer visitors than its record year of 2021, when 3,590,609 visitors passed through the gates between January and August. The current year-to-date pace is 2% higher than Yellowstone’s second-busiest year, 2024, with 53,617 more visitors through August.
The numbers were announced in a Sept. 4 press release, with more data available online from the National Park Service.
