The Bozeman Police Department will host its 18th Citizens Police Academy from late March to mid-May, and is now accepting applications.
A BPD press release described the academy as “a dynamic, behind-the-scenes program designed to connect the community with the officers who serve it,” and noted that spots are limited in the high-demand program hosted at the Bozeman Public Safety Center.
“The Citizens Police Academy is more than a class—it’s an experience,” Community Resource Officer Breanne Sanders stated in the release. “You’ll step into the world of police work, tackle real scenarios, and gain a better understanding of the challenges officers face while building stronger connections with our team.”
Sanders leads the academy, which is scheduled to meet on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. for eight weeks beginning March 27. Participants will join ride-alongs, experiencing simulated traffic stops, crime scene investigations and forensic techniques. “We want you to see what we do, how we do it, and why it matters,” Sanders stated.
