BPD and the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office deputies worked together to identify and contact all parties involved in the stabbing. They soon learned that several juveniles were in a physical altercation at Kirk Park that evening, leading to one suspect stabbing the victim several times. A suspect and witnesses were placed in custody as the investigation began.

The investigation remains active, and a juvenile suspect is still in custody facing attempted deliberate homicide charges. The victim was in critical condition and sent to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, and is expected to survive, according to the release. Anyone with information, and any witnesses, can contact Shay Stephens, BPD detective, at 406-582-2215 or sstephens@bozeman.net.

“Our team would like to thank GCSO, Bozeman Fire Department and American Medical Response for their swift response and assistance with this event,” stated Chief Jim Veltkamp in the release.
