On Thursday morning, May 21, a group of law enforcement agencies conducted a “large-scale, multi-location operation targeting illegal drug trafficking activity” across Gallatin County.
Involved agencies included the Missouri River Drug Task Force, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Bozeman Police Department, Montana Department of Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Attorney’s Office. The effort follows a long-term investigation into drug distribution networks operating within the region, according to a Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office press release.
“This operation reflects the strong partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies working together to disrupt the flow of dangerous drugs into our community and hold those responsible accountable,” the release stated. “It is also a reflection of what can be accomplished when the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement pull in the same direction to make our communities safer.”
In the release, Springer made note of community members who are “sensitive to our federal law enforcement partners,” and asked for their cooperation “by not interfering, disrupting, or obstructing this extensive and well-executed operation.”
The operation included “simultaneously executed” search warrants at several locations throughout the county. Officers arrested multiple individuals on federal criminal charges. Sheriff Dan Springer praised “exceptional professionalism” displayed by federal, state and local agencies. He noted that successful operations follow months of preparation backed by years of trust between the Gallatin County law enforcement community and partners at the federal and state level.
