Hungry Moose signs lease for new on-mountain space

BIG SKY – A 16-year chapter in the Big Sky Resort Mountain Village is over, with the C&P Grocery’s lease up this spring.

Starting May 1, the Hungry Moose Market and Deli, which opened in the Town Center in 2005 and has been in business since 1994, is renovating the 2,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by C&P in the Mountain Mall.

“Similar to this Moose, it will be guest service oriented,” said Jackie Robin, who owns the business with her husband Mark. In addition to grocery items, the new market will have a deli counter, grab-n-go sandwiches, fresh salads, ice cream, smoothies and milkshakes.

When Big Sky Resort approached the Robins with the opportunity, “it seemed like a really nice way to expand with out actually having to move,” Robin said.

C&P is part of a larger corporation that also owns Mountain Top Pizza, which will also close, and the Black Bear Bar and Grill, which will remain in situ.

Other changes for the Mountain Mall include a new resort-owned logo store in place of the old Plum Logo, and an Oakley store, both opening June 8 for the summer season. A Burton shop is set to go into the Discovery Center by late summer.
