BOZEMAN – The MSU Lady Bobcats on Feb. 16 ended a six-game losing streak by outlasting the Weber State Wildcats (0-15, 0-24) by a score of 69-65.

Although the Cats (9-7, 15-10) enjoyed a first place ranking in the Big Sky Conference during the early season, they hadn’t won a game since Jan. 24. They are currently ranked sixth in the conference. Weber State has the dubious distinction of a 43-game losing streak and is one of only four Division I schools in the country that is winless this season.

The game was close until several minutes into the second half when midway through the Lady Cats opened a 62-44 lead. Weber stormed back, and with just over three minutes to play they cut the lead to just two points. MSU Seniors Latisha Adams and Rachel Semansky steadied the team by scoring the last five points of the game, and Semansky had a late breakaway layup to seal the win.

Semansky’s teammates pounded the ball inside to her, and she repeatedly scored from the low post, leading the Cats with a season high 28 points and 11 rebounds. The inside game appears to have returned for the Cats, as they scored 42 of their 69 points from the paint.

With four games remaining in the regular season, the Lady Cats have a break until March 2 when they host first place archrival University of Montana (13-3, 19-6) at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
