WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS – In the shadow of the Little Belt Mountains, the fourth annual Red Ants Pants Music Festival, from July 24-27, completed another successful three-day run in White Sulphur Springs.
Red Ants Pants’ success is the result of mixing thousands of music fans with amazing artists on a central Montana ranch, and an ethos of building a supportive community.
This year’s lineup included headliners like Josh Ritter, Charley Pride, James McMurtry and crowd favorite Brandi Carlile, and the energy of the festival can be described as a big family reunion catered with amazing food, soulful attitudes and picturesque camping.
A portion of the profits from the music festival go to the Red Ants Pants Foundation, founded to “develop and expand leadership roles for women, preserve and support working family farms and ranches, and enrich and promote rural communities.”
The family-friendly weekend included volunteers with big smiles, ample food, water and shade, and featured headline music rivaling a big city music festival. The organizers address even minor details like watering the surrounding dirt roads to control dust, offering wagon rides around the venue, and having showers available for campers.
Red Ants Pants is bound to experience big growth in the future and the music lineup for the fifth annual festival, July 23-26, 2015, should be an exciting announcement.
